The disability allowance is a care form, whose aim is to moderate the disadvantages arising from disabilities.
To answer the question in the title: yes. Hearing-impaired people above the age of 18 years can receive disability allowance and whose auditory threshold is above 80dB, thus cannot hear sounding speech, not even with a hearing aid, and became hearing-impaired before the age of 25, or is unable to pronounce words properly.
If you meet these requirements and request this allowance, you can receive 21 785 Forint per month.
Cumultatively disabled people (having more than one disability simultaneously) or who is missing the ability of self care can receive a higher amount of allowance. Those who are entitled to the higher amount of allowance can receive 26 813 Forint.
Please note that the NRSZH monitors regularly whether you still meet these requirements. This means, that from time to time you have to take part in a re-examination, during which you have to certify in the hospital final report and the resolution that your health state has not changed or worsened.
To request the allowance you will need a referral from your GP, the final report and a form, which you can hand in at the government office that belongs to your home town.
Also note:
- There is no restriction regarding your earnings, so you can earn according to your preferences
- You can also receive invalidity benefit, invalidity care or rehabilitation care.
- Cannot receive a family support that is of increased amount!
- If you receive a disability allowance you will also receive an authorized certification from the Hungarian Treasury, which you and your escort can use to travel for free on local, and with a discount of 90% on the suburban and interurban public transportations. You can also be entitled to a support of vehicle purchase.
